I-Sa-ra

I-Sa-ra, meaning “Freedom,” is the oldest resident at our sanctuary, gracing us with her 45 years of life experience. She was rescued from a logging camp where she endured years of hard labor, carrying heavy loads and dragging wood for profit. After her arrival in 2018, we honored her spirit by naming her I-Sa-ra, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with compassion and care.

Though I-Sa-ra has a small body and short legs, and her body bears the marks of her challenging past – including scars on her head and a back that shows signs of overwork – she is thriving in her new environment. I-Sa-ra is now very happy at the sanctuary, surrounded by the joyful energy of her younger friends. They bring a playful spirit to her life, and their companionship adds a renewed sense of joy and purpose to her days.

Known for her peaceful demeanor, I-Sa-ra is sincere in her friendships and is often seen nurturing her younger companions. Her polite and sacrificial nature shines as she enjoys their playful antics, occasionally joining in on fun and games in the mud baths.

Although I-Sa-ra can still be timid, especially around loud noises and fast-moving objects like cars—reminders of her difficult past—she has found a sense of safety and comfort among her friends. This loving environment allows her to embrace the freedom she deserves.

Visiting I-Sa-ra offers a unique opportunity to connect with a wise and gentle soul who exemplifies the joy of freedom and companionship. Come meet I-Sa-ra and witness her loving spirit and newfound happiness firsthand. Your visit helps support the ongoing mission of elephant rescue and rehabilitation, ensuring a brighter future for elephants like I-Sa-ra!
